The jungle adventure continues

Following the events of Donkey Kong, this time players take control of Donkey Kong’s son, Junior, on a mission to rescue his captured father. Instead of barrels and construction sites, the setting shifts to jungle-themed stages filled with vines, platforms, and treacherous enemies.

Climbing to victory

Gameplay revolves around vine-climbing mechanics, allowing Junior to ascend faster by grabbing two vines or descend quickly by using just one. Mario, now in a rare villainous role, commands various creatures to stop Junior’s rescue attempt, making for a unique twist in the series.

The pulse line edition

The Pulse Line version of Donkey Kong Jr. is part of the early Famicom lineup, featuring the distinct red stripe on the packaging. As one of the first major sequels in Nintendo’s arcade-to-home transitions, it remains a nostalgic classic for fans of the era.
